If you love the outdoors, Hill City campgrounds offer cabins, RV and tent sites, lodges and outdoor activities close to major attractions like Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, the Mickelson Trail and more. Black Hills Trailside Park Resort

Black Hills Trailside Park Resort offers 46 full hook-up 50-amp RV sites, tent sites on Spring Creek, 9 cozy vacation cabins, and the Mickelson Trail Suite. 

The cabins sleep up to 4 or 5 and offer a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, and deck with a gas grill; cabins have a full bathroom. The suite sleeps up to 8 and offers a full kitchen and bathroom. All linens are provided. 

Each shower house has clean restrooms and showers with locking doors.

This vacation resort is located in the beautiful Black Hills, yet just on the edge of Hill City. It is just a quick 5-minute walk down the Mickelson Trail to downtown Hill City. The Mickelson Trail runs through the resort. E-bike rentals are available through Trailside Bicycle, which is conveniently located on the property.

Black Hills Sawtooth Campground & Cabins

Brand new RV Park in 2023, we have 20 full hook-up sites, both back in and pull through, and welcome nightly, weekly and monthly stays. Our sites are large and grassy and can accommodate big rigs. We are pet friendly. We have 4 new kitchenettes under construction for the summer of 2024. Pets are not allowed in our cabins. We are only minutes from downtown Hill City and Mt Rushmore.

Custer’s Gulch RV Park & Campground

Welcome to Custer’s Gulch RV Park where wildlife, such as deer and elk roam around the grounds just as they did 125 years ago when General Custer camped in this very same spot while on his expedition to the Black Hills. Custer’s Gulch, one of the newest RV parks located in the Black Hills, has 90 full-service sites. A quiet, peaceful campground in the valley, Pull-through sites, 50-amp service, lovely views & lots of trees. Located near the west entrance to Custer State Park and less than 3 miles from Custer City, this allows easy access to all the most popular tourist attractions.

Black Elk Resort Cottages & RV Sites

Family owned and operated. Located in the Heart of the Black Hills. Great location to all major attractions and activities. Clean and comfortable cottages each with private bathroom, satellite t.v.

Custer State Park

The clear mountain waters are inviting, and the open ranges are waiting to be discovered. Bring your family to Custer State Park and let yourself run wild. Custer State Park in the Black Hills encompasses 71,000 acres of spectacular terrain and an abundance of wildlife. Within the park, you’ll discover a world of adventure! The newly constructed Custer State Park Visitor Center is open to the public 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. MDT. A herd of 1,300 bison roams freely throughout the park, often stopping traffic along the 18-mile Wildlife Loop Road. The herd is one of the largest publicly owned herds in the world. Custer State Park boasts several scenic drives that explore the diversity of the area. From the granite spires of Needles Highway to the bison along Wildlife Loop Road. The park includes lodges at Sylvan Lake, Legion Lake, Blue Bell and the State Game Lodge. Each resort has its own flavor, ranging from the stately Game Lodge, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, to the mini dude ranch at Blue Bell.
